MUSIC INDUSTRY MOVER, SHAKERS CONVERGE AT CATHEDRAL CITY SUMMIT
- Palm Springs Life Magazine
While DJ Corey D regularly spins lively electronic dance music (EDM) at modern hotspots all over, including Chill Bar Palm Springs, locally, his stakes in the industry are much deeper.
Determined to bring the EDM industry together on the West Coast after being involved in similar efforts elsewhere, Corey D and his partner Alan Edwards have joined with the City of Cathedral City to present the Interfusion Music Summit (IMS), Oct. 9-11.
Now in its fifth year, IMS is an EDM festival for industry pros, rising artists, and fans to mingle as well as share ideas about the EDM marketplace. The three-day event has activity workshops, panels, an EDM tradeshow, parties, and a free concert, “Rise,” in the heart of Cathedral City near the Mary Pickford Theaters.
The “Rise” concert, starting at 4 p.m., and going until 2 a.m., will feature some of the nation’s hottest headliners in EDM including Pepper MaShay, KD Rose, Ebru, and Raquela plus local DJ’s and artists DJ Synthetix, Cielo High, Those Dvdes, DJ Victoria, Rich Brandon, Adon Icon and YFB.
DJ Corey D counts himself lucky to “do music as a living,” earning the distinction as the only Palm Springs local DJ to spin at Jeffrey Sankers' White Party.
He also:
• Serves as Program Director for two radio stations, ClubHits.fm and PNN.fm Radio, winning Cybersocket’s People’s Choice Award for Favorite Music Website.
• Has Created a Remix of “Beauty Shop,” starring Queen Latifa, which was featured in the MGM feature film.
• Won “Best Dance/Electronica Song” for “Does Your Mamma Know,” which he co-wrote and executively produced for industry superstar, Pepper MaShay.
“This is really a labor of love," DJ Corey D says.
